Winning streaks

Two of my favorite teams, one in the NHL, and the other in the NBA are on a roll right now.

The Canucks

Currently, they are on a 7 game win streak. Luongo has been playing real well and has stolen us some games against our divisional opponents. Linden is getting back to scoring, but I think it's due to the work of the Sedins. Anyone that plays with them is gold. Last game against the Panthers, Luongo was not on the top of his game, but still gave us key stops and made the final stop in the shootout. We are currently tops in the Northwest Division but other teams have games in hand.

Naslund got a big ovation after breaking a 17-game scoring drought. I was on my way home from work, so I was not able to watch it but I was listening to the radio. The fans gave him a standing ovation for around 3 minutes. Naslund needs that. I think the slump is just mental for him. Good thing, however, he is still working hard offensively and defensively. Although he is not scoring, he gives 100%. That's all you want to ask for. He doesn't deserve to get benched because he is one of the hardest working out there and never complains about his shoulder injury.

Houston Rockets (NBA)

Yao Ming is out for another 4 weeks/a month but they are still doing fine without him. TMAc is back and playing well. Taking over games like he did in Orlando. For the past 4 games, he has been averaging 30 ppg to make up for the lack of scoring. The Rockets have gone 5-1 in that stretch all without Yao. Rockets are much deeper this year and the acquisition of Battier really helps as he does everything well. Defense is his calling card, but he has been filling it up from 3 point range. Mutombo is also finding some youth in his old age.

Hope Rockets keep it up while Yao is away. I don't think any of the teams would want to play them in the playoffs. They are a very dangerous team. I agree that they are still not in the class of a Dallas, San Antonio, Phoenix but they have a great chance.

NBA Highlights

Last Saturday (Or Friday I think), the courtside countdown was about one of the best I've seen. Some amazing dunks. There was the Jefferson, Vince Carter, and Trevor Ariza dunk. And the Kidd circus-no-look-shot. Here they are below.

#4 I will start out with the dunk of the year. This was not part of courtside countdown last Friday, but almost any NBA fan knows of this dunk. It still goes down as the dunk of the year. Ronnie Price's dunk on Carlos Boozer.

#3 Vince Carter posterizing Andres Nocioni. Come on Nocioni, why did you even try to block the shot with Carter already coming in with a full head of steam. True enough, posterization!

#2 Trevor Ariza's "hammer". Ariza says, "try blocking this shot Emeka!. I'll give you a good kick for good measure."

#1 Jason Kidd's no look shot. Just throw it up there, see where it lands

Christmas holidays

That was a fun Christmas holiday! My sis and my dad were here to celebrate it and it was enjoyable to have a relaxing vacation with them. Although it was a simple holiday for the family, it was still fun! We basically went out to dinners, hung out at home and watched Canucks or NBA games, and go to the mall.

This is our last pic before Carla had to head back to Toronto

This is a pic of all of us at the Keg, with Nelson, Carla's friend from TO. He's a cool guy and it was fun to hang out with him.
This is my meal, PRIME RIB!!!!
This was killer. The dinner we had with our Aunt and uncle is always a good one! Heck, I couldn't eat for days just because the food was so good! I'm lounging while Nelson and Anna are on the right. LOL! Aldo is imitating Amori's expression.
Christmas Day with my uncle cutting the roast beef
NOT THE SAME PICTURE. Same pose, different animal. This time it's the ham! New Year's eve dinner
Carla and I also spent the holidays hanging out with Carla's close friends. Seen here is Aldo, Anita and Kevin.
This is the rest of the group. The newlyweds - Charlotte and Eduardo, Lee (or as Carla likes to call him, "Bleelit". Means "little kid" in filipino), and Pia and Amori!

Look how cute Amori is! And what did I get for Christmas? This! I have two jerseys now. Both are in the shop right now getting my number and name placed on the back. I am picking it up 2 weeks from now.
When my dad and sis left, it was time for me to end the holidays with my buddies. This is a pic of me with Joe, Michael and Lexi on NYE in Ocean Beach Club.

Well, that's it. Hope you guys had as much fun as I did during the holidays!!!!
