Winning streaks
Two of my favorite teams, one in the NHL, and the other in the NBA are on a roll right now.
The Canucks
Currently, they are on a 7 game win streak. Luongo has been playing real well and has stolen us some games against our divisional opponents. Linden is getting back to scoring, but I think it's due to the work of the Sedins. Anyone that plays with them is gold. Last game against the Panthers, Luongo was not on the top of his game, but still gave us key stops and made the final stop in the shootout. We are currently tops in the Northwest Division but other teams have games in hand.
Naslund got a big ovation after breaking a 17-game scoring drought. I was on my way home from work, so I was not able to watch it but I was listening to the radio. The fans gave him a standing ovation for around 3 minutes. Naslund needs that. I think the slump is just mental for him. Good thing, however, he is still working hard offensively and defensively. Although he is not scoring, he gives 100%. That's all you want to ask for. He doesn't deserve to get benched because he is one of the hardest working out there and never complains about his shoulder injury.

Houston Rockets (NBA)
Yao Ming is out for another 4 weeks/a month but they are still doing fine without him. TMAc is back and playing well. Taking over games like he did in Orlando. For the past 4 games, he has been averaging 30 ppg to make up for the lack of scoring. The Rockets have gone 5-1 in that stretch all without Yao. Rockets are much deeper this year and the acquisition of Battier really helps as he does everything well. Defense is his calling card, but he has been filling it up from 3 point range. Mutombo is also finding some youth in his old age.
Hope Rockets keep it up while Yao is away. I don't think any of the teams would want to play them in the playoffs. They are a very dangerous team. I agree that they are still not in the class of a Dallas, San Antonio, Phoenix but they have a great chance.
